The situation
CKISS publishes a lot. Species guides, events, programs, reports, job postings, and an annual list of priority weeds. The old site gave the team one tool to do all of it with: a blog.
So the same update had to go up in several places for people to find it. Every change also cost developer time by the hour, on top of the software upkeep WordPress needs whether anyone posts anything or not.
What we built
A new site where each kind of content has its own editor. Species, programs, events, publications, the board, job postings, and the priority list are all set up properly instead of being filed as blog posts.
The site records every change, so the society can always see who updated what. Every old web address still works too. Anything a partner, a funder, or Google linked to over the past decade now points at the right new page.
The outcome
Three to five staff publish straight to the live site. Nothing waits on us, and nothing waits on a budget for developer hours.
Each piece of information is written once and lives in one place. The site puts it wherever a reader goes looking for it.
